Therapeutic Yoga is a combination of gentle yoga, restorative yoga, energy healing, breathing exercises and guided meditation. These techniques when practiced together can help balance the body and mind. This works great even for individuals who are looking for light and gentle exercise.
Power yoga is usually a vigorous, fitness-based approach to vinyasa-style yoga. It involves a lot of vinyasas that improve flexibility, bone and muscle strength. Power Yoga incorporates various poses and asanas of Ashtanga making it interesting and extremely beneficial for both body and mind.
Aqua yoga is a relatively young form of yoga that has proven to be useful in strengthening the body, mind and soul. In aqua yoga, as the name suggests, the asanas are performed in water. The postures are modified for individuals to perform the asanas in water with ease and improved benefits.
Shatkriya refers to the Six cleansing techniques followed in Yoga practice. These techniques are used to clear toxins from the body using natural methods. These also include eliminating toxins coming from food, drinks or drugs, hence cleansing both body and mind. The Shatkriya is practiced not just for clearing physical toxins but also the emotional toxins that form as negative thoughts in the mind.
Meditation has been in practice for centuries and is proven to improve psychological balance and physical and mental relaxation. Meditation when done right under the guidance of a bonafide guru, can help a person experience the various benefits it has to offer. It can help reduce blood pressure, symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Agnihotra is a process that uses healing fire to purify the surroundings. The copper and its pyramid shape generate negative ions, which clear the air of various hazardous particles. Cow dung used in the process, is a natural disinfectant and reduces bacteria in the air and surroundings. Pure ghee is a natural detox agent and dissolves the toxic contents in the air. Thus the enormous energy released during Agnihotra is thrust into the atmosphere, which purifies and intensifies the ‘prana’ or life energy in the surroundings.
Mantras are Words or Phrases, usually in Sanskrit, that have a positive impact on the mind and soul. Chanting mantras has been common practice among Indians for centuries. These mantras combined with certain Yogic postures and concentration on the breathwork can release positive energy that helps decrease negative thoughts and calm the mind.
Shankhaprakhsālana is a yoga practice recommended for cleansing the bowel. Laghu shankha prakshālana is a simplified version of this kriya that is completed in a shorter time and offers lesser physical strain. Poorna shankha prakshālana involves drinking saline/ medicated water followed by a set of yoga asanas till the bowels are completely cleared. This is done under the supervision of a yoga therapist. This helps in complete internal detoxification.
