
Sakleshpur is a mesmerising hill station town in Hassan District, Karnataka. Located 224 km away from Bangalore, this little town lies in the Malnad region on the hills of the biodiversity hotspot, the Western Ghats.

The Western Ghats mountains extend along the western edge of the taluk. The Hemavathi River, a tributary of the Kaveri, that originates in the Chikkamagaluru district, flows through Sakleshpur town. Two rivers that originate in Sakleshpur are, the Kempuhole and the Kumaradhara.
The Kempuhole river originates near the Manjarabad Fort and flows towards the west joining the Netravati River, which flows into the Arabian Sea at Mangalore. The Kumaradhara river, also a tributary of the Netravati river, flows in the southwestern part, and into the Arabian Sea. It is believed that pilgrims visiting the famous Kukke Subrahmanya Temple in Sakleshpur, must cross the Kumaradhara River. It is a common practice among the pilgrims to take a holy bath in it before visiting the temple for Darshan.
